Point-to-Point Microwave Link (PTP)

Microwave point-to-point links are mainly used to interconnect the network of two buildings/locations with each other by use of a very narrow (low power) radio beam. One of those locations can be a POP (POP=Point Of Presence) of MAC Telecom, or another location of the customer, or even a POP of another operator/partner. Microwave links do consist out of 2 parts : an outdoor/antenna unit  (ODU) connected by coax to the indoor unit (IDU), mostly installed in a 19’’-rack. Both antennas of the same link do have to “see” each other, and no obstacles are tolerated in between. This is one of the items that are checked during the technical visit (free of charge) to prepare our final offer. Typically, the antennas are installed on a free standing construction on a flat roof with a height of around 1 meter. If necessary, the height can be adapted on the local needs to assure the right quality. It is up to the customer to obtain his authorization to install the antenna on the roof of his building. All other administrative tasks are covered by MAC Telecom. (radio licence, region and/or commune)

Antenna Point-MultiPoint (PMP)

From one of the MAC Telecom POP's (POP = Point of Presence), different customers can be served simultaniously. For this reason, the technology is called Point (= one pop location) to Multipoint (different endusers or customers). The customer equipment consist out of one antenna part (ODU), connected through fiber or standard network cable with the indoor unit (IDU).Typically, the antennas are installed on a free standing construction on a flat roof with a height of around 1 meter and in a environment without obstacles close to the antenna. If necessary, the height can be adapted on the local needs to assure a good quality of the link. This is one of the crucial items taht will be checked during the technical survey. It is up to the customer to obtain his authorization to install the antenna on the roof of his building. All other administrative tasks are covered by MAC Telecom. (radio licence, region and/or commune)

Feasaibility study and technical survey

This survey is part of the presales proces and is free of charge for the customer. This survey is needed to check some technical aspects of the radio connection, as also to estimate the degree of complexity of the planned installation. Only after having executed this study, MAC Telecom is be able to make a final quotation for your project.
